Truck Driver Killed In Kansas City By Shifting Load

A truck driver was killed at 78th and Kaw Drive in Kansas City, Kansas at 9:00 AM on Tuesday (February 17th) morning. According to authorities, the truck was headed westbound on Kaw when a vehicle pulled out in front of it. The driver hit the brakes to avoid colliding with the motorist, and then the load of plywood shifted – crushing the cab and killing the driver.

Weather was not believed to have been a primary factor in the accident at this time, however it’s been noted that the streets were wet and temperatures were below freezing.

Kansas City police are investigating the accident, and the driver’s name has not yet been released pending notification of the family.

Troopers are stressing the importance of load securement.
