Truck Driver Struck And Killed While Checking Tire

A 73-year-old truck driver was hit and killed while checking the tire on his truck.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, between Route 8 and Route 28 exits in Indiana Township, Pennsylvania.

Police believe the truck driver, Glen Helman, pulled his truck onto the side of the highway and was checking his tires when he was struck and killed by a box truck.

Authorities have not released the box truck driver’s name.  There is no information on what caused the box truck to exit the roadway and strike Helman. No charges have been filed against the box truck driver at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
