Truck Driver Struck and Killed While Trying To Help Accident Victims

A truck driver who had stopped to help crash victims was stuck and killed.

The accident occurred on Monday on I-37 northbound in Corpus Christi, Texas.

At approximately 10:00 p.m., a Mitsubishi Mirage crashed into a Dodge Nitro from behind as the vehicles were traveling north on the interstate.

A 39-year-old truck driver stopped his truck on the Carbon Plant Road exit ramp and went to help the crash victims.

As he was attempting to reach the crash, he was struck by a passing SUV.

The truck driver, whose name has not been released, was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

The SUV driver who struck the truck driver was not intoxicated and police said he was traveling at highway speeds.

The accident is under investigation.
