UPDATE: Police Believe Ohio Truck Driver Was Shot Accidentally

Published:

UPDATE: June 25 2:00 p.m

Investigators believe that the bullet that hit a truck driver in the head at a loading dock at the Sterilite Corp. facility hit him by accident.

Ohio investigators believe that the bullet originated from a wooded area and that the Sterilite facility was not visible from where the shot originated. Reports say that an individual has come forward and weapons are being tested, but no charges have been filed yet.

While the shooting is still being investigated, Massillon police stated that they are convinced that the driver was hit accidentally. They stated: “it’s still under investigation for confirmation. At this point in time, it does appear to be an accident. This is not a malicious act.”

The bullet was removed from the truck driver’s head on Monday and he was still hospitalized as of Wednesday.

ORIGINAL REPORT

Police in Massillon, Ohio, are searching for answers after a truck driver was hit by a bullet around 3 p.m. yesterday.

Authorities say that the truck driver was climbing into his truck outside Sterilite Corp. when a bullet hit him directly in the head. Amazingly, it did not penetrate his skull and the driver was able to walk into the terminal building to ask for help.

The extent of the driver’s injuries are not yet known and police have not yet been able to determine the caliber of the bullet.

Ohio police are searching nearby fields and wooded areas, including the Stark County Farm property, to find the clues that will lead them to the shooter.
