Family Separation Study

Published:

By: Heidi O.

Would your family be interested in participating in a Family Separation Study? The University of Houston, the University of Central Florida, and the University of Hawaii are conducting this survey, which is funded by the Department of Defense to examine the effect of periods of separation on children and families.

The goal of the study is to help design prevention-oriented programs to assist families in advance of these often stressful periods of separation.

They are seeking families with children between the ages of 7 & 17 and a parent that travels away from home for work for an extended period of time (3 to 4 weeks or more). The non-traveling parent and the child would participate during one of the times the other parent is away from home.

Participating families will be compensated $100 for their time.

If you think you would qualify for the study, you can send Dr. Jennifer Fillo an email at [email protected] or contact her at (713)743-8674.
