Truck Driver Tries To Rescue Dog From Burning Cab

Published:

A truck driver risked his life to try to save his dog after his truck crashed in Winnipeg earlier this month.

Wade Newman was driving with his two dogs when he crashed into a loader on a Winnipeg road. His truck slid on its side and burst into flames. With the help of some good Samaritans, Newman escaped from the intense heat of the truck and rolled on the ground to make sure he wasn’t on fire, then returned to the truck to try to rescue his dogs.

Newman was able to get his dingo mix Sasha out unharmed, but when he tried to coax out his two-year-old poodle Snowflake, she was too terrified to move.

Snowflake eventually ran out of the truck, but she suffered severe burns on her legs and body and lost one of her ears. Employees at a nearby business caught her and covered her in cold towels. Newman was also severely burned, sending him to the hospital for six days.

Snowflake is currently receiving care at the Winnipeg Humane Society, but the costs of her treatment are adding up — she will require extensive medical treatment and skin grafts. If you’d like to donate to help Snowflake, you can do so at this page created by the Winnipeg Humane Society!
