E-ZPass Comes To Kentucky

Published:

Kentucky recently announced that it will join 15 other states as part of the E-ZPass Group.

Authorities say the E-ZPass tolling system will go live in 2016.

Part of the reason that Kentucky decided to join the E-ZPass Group is to expedite work on the new I-65 bridge project through tolls. In a press release from the Kentucky Public Transportation Infrastructure Authority, the state “joined for the benefit of future users of the Louisville-Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges project. KPTIA is financing the Downtown Crossing portion of the project – a new bridge to carry Interstate 65 northbound traffic between Louisville and Jeffersonville, Indiana, and conversion of the existing I-65 John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge to carry southbound traffic.

According to preliminary toll figures, the transponder fee will be $5 for medium trucks and $10 for heavy trucks.

E-ZPass transponders are designed to work in all 16 participating states.
