Toyota Plans To Power Semis With Hydrogen Fuel Cells

Published:

Toyota has recently announced plans put hydrogen fuel cells into semi trucks to create a “zero emission solution.”

Toyota has already successfully introduced hydrogen fuel technology into their mid-size Mirai sedan. In a statement released Tuesday, the auto maker announced plans to “explore a semi-trailer truck application for a California-based feasibility study.

The statement goes on to say that “the Toyota Mirai will continue to provide a zero emission driving solution for global customers; a heavy-duty truck sized fuel cell vehicle creates a potential zero-emission freight transportation solution for the future.

The three sentence press release revealed precious few other details aside from the promise that more information would be announced in the coming months.
