Connecticut Police Warn Drivers About Rest Area Scammers

Published:

Connecticut State Police have issued a warning about scammers approaching drivers at the state’s rest areas.

There have been an increasing number of reports of suspicious people asking for money and rides at the rest areas on I-95, I-84, and on the Wilbur Cross/Merritt Parkway. Police say that the scammers have been approaching strangers asking for gas money or rides.

Connecticut Police warn drivers not to give money to people who are behaving suspiciously and to avoid giving them rides.

Should you feel threatened, you are urged to call 911.
