Published:

Blowing dust forced the Arizona Department of Transportation to shut down 62 miles of I-10 yesterday for about 2 hours.

Blowing Dust Forces Interstate Shut Down

I-10 was closed yesterday around 4:30 p.m. from US 191 to Lordsburg, New Mexico as 40 m.p.h. wind gusts made travel too risky. Officials were able to reopen I-10 around 6:30.

Dust May Have Contributed To Crash Involving At Least Two Trucks

A crash occurred in the westbound lanes of I-10 during the dust storm that involved at least two tractor trailers. It is unclear how many other vehicles were involved in the crash. No injuries were reported.

Transportation officials remind drivers to pull completely off the paved part of the road before visibility becomes too limited by dust and to stay inside your vehicle with your seatbelt on.
