Alleged Angry Drunk Driver Crashes Into 18 Wheeler On Purpose

Published:

An East Amherst man has been arrested after allegedly hitting an 18 wheeler, fleeing the scene, and then crashing into the truck again on purpose when he realized the trucker was following him.

The incident took place around 4:30 p.m. on January 14 in Chatham, New York. According to police, 48 year old Kevin P. O’Leary hit a commercial vehicle in a Dodge Ram pickup, then fled the scene of the crash. The truck driver called 911 and followed O’Leary on the NYS Thruway. When O’Leary realized that the truck driver was following him, police say that he intentionally crashed his pickup into the truck, disabling his own vehicle.

New York State troopers said that O’Leary’s blood alcohol level was about three times higher than the legal limit. His charges include aggravated DWI and reckless endangerment.

The truck driver was not hurt during the incident.
