A motorist was killed and a truck driver was seriously injured following a semi vs. pickup crash on I-95 in St. Augustine, Florida, last night.

Pickup Leaves Shoulder And Crosses All Southbound Lanes, Causing Collision With Semi

The crash happened on the southbound exit ramp of I-95 at State Road 16 around 9:20 p.m. According to the Florida State Patrol, 75 year old Fred L. Gray had stopped his pickup truck on the shoulder of southbound I-95. For unknown reasons, Gray reportedly left the shoulder of the interstate and crossed all southbound lanes. In the process, he passed directly in front of a semi driven by 31 year old Bashir Sheikh, causing the semi to collide with the pickup. The pickup crashed onto the shoulder of the interstate while the semi crashed into a guardrail, started leaking fuel, and caught fire.

Rescue crews reported several explosions coming from the semi.

Gray had to be cut out of the pickup and later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
