Police Release Video Of Suspected Brooklyn Truck Arsonist

Published:

New York police have released security video of a man who they believe may be responsible for setting the cabs of seven trucks on fire overnight in Brooklyn last month.

Five Of Seven Trucks Belong To Drivers Who Work For The Same Company

On July 31, police were called about a burning truck at the intersection of Stanley Avenue and Essex Street. They soon discovered that six other trucks in the area had been burned. Notably, only the cab of each truck was burned and the trailers remained relatively unscathed. Five of the seven burned trucks belonged to owner-operators who work for TTS Trucking. TTS Trucking hauls waste from New York to Pennsylvania.

No injuries were reported during the arson incident.

Witness And Video Sheds More Light On Arson Incident

Yesterday police released more details about the arson along with video of the suspect.

One witness who saw the suspect said that he got out of the passenger side of a white box truck driven by someone else. She said that she watched the suspect break open the passenger side window and throw a lit flare inside the truck. She said she heard an explosion.

The witness was able to give a description of the suspect: “The guy got out, he was short, I’d say 5’7”, 5’9”; kind of chubby. He had on all black; a black hoodie.

She also believes that the attacks were targeted: “It was not random at all. Someone wants to close these trailers down.
