Suspected Truck Hijack Attempt Began In Houston

According to a report from the Conroe Montgomery County Patch, the incident began Friday night, July 29, in Houston’s Third Ward. After dropping off a load of fruit to a grocery supply company, a trucker reported that several black males approached him and ordered him to drop his trailer. The report states that the Houston Police Department arrived on the scene and that the suspects “scattered.”

Police Believe Suspects Followed Trucker 50 Miles To Conroe

After the incident, the trucker hauled his empty trailer on I-45 to Conroe. He said that around 11 p.m. at the Wilson Road overpass, two passenger vehicles (a white Audi and a dark car that might be a Pontiac Grand Prix) pulled up along side him and individuals in each of the cars opened fire on his truck.

Though the gunfire shot out three of his tires and hit other tires, the trucker was remarkably able to keep his rig under control. He was able to pull his rig off of I-45.

At least one of the passenger vehicles reportedly pulled off also. As the driver saw one of the suspects from the car walking towards his truck, he bailed out of the driver’s side door and sprinted across I-45 to a Walmart.

Several witnesses called 911.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
