Log Book Discrepancies Lead To $2 Million Cocaine Bust

Alabama police say that log book discrepancies that led them to search an 18 wheeler and discover over $2 million worth of cocaine.

Authorities say that it all began with a routine traffic stop on I-59/20 in Greene County on December 22.

The officer noted that there were several inconsistencies in the driver’s log book and in paperwork about the driver’s load. The officer became suspicious and asked for permission to search the semi. The truck driver gave consent.

Police discovered 167 pounds of cocaine hidden in a secret compartment on the truck. The street value of the cocaine is estimated at $2.2 million.

The truck driver was arrested and the 18 wheeler was impounded.

The truck driver was charged with cocaine trafficking.  The driver’s name has not been released because authorities are concerned about safety given the large amount of drugs that were seized.

This is the largest drug seizure in the 17thJudicial Drug Task Force’s history.
