Police Hunt For Road Rager Who Reportedly Caused Truck Rollover

Published:

Utah police are on the lookout for a motorist who reportedly brake checked a truck driver in a fit of road rage on Saturday, causing the truck to tip over and creating massive traffic backups.

Police: Speed and Road Rage Are Suspected Factors

The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. at mile marker 11 in Murray. According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a flatbed truck hauling steel and aluminum was traveling north on I-15 when the driver, unfamiliar with the area, accidentally cut off a small red car in order to make the exit onto I-215 east.

Witnesses told police that the red car sped in front of the truck and “brake checked” it. Police say that the brake check in addition to the fact that the truck may have been speeding, caused the truck to roll over onto the driver’s side: “The semi driver was driving too fast and along with that and the other vehicle making him hit his brakes going on that curve, it made him lose control.”

Finding Motorist Is Considered A Long Shot

The truck driver was not seriously hurt in the crash.

Traffic was backed up for hours.

Troopers searched for the red car on Saturday but admitted that it would be a “long shot” to find it. They said that if caught, the motorist could face charges that include reckless driving or even assault.
