Prosecutor Says Child Porn Offender Committed Suicide By Truck

Published:

A former prosecutor has confirmed that the pedestrian who was hit and killed by a tractor trailer on the New York State Thruway last week had been convicted on 83 charges of child pornography.

A twenty five year old man was hit by a semi just before 10 a.m. on November 29th on an I-90 offramp in Salina. New York State Police ruled the incident to be an apparent suicide by truck.

State Police declined to offer more public information on the incident, but ex-prosecutor Jeffrey Schiano confirmed that the man who was killed was Lewis McGuinness III, a level 2 sex offender.

McGuinness had been convicted in October 2015 on 82 counts of possession child pornography and one count of promoting child pornography.

Schiano was the prosecutor in McGuinness’s case, which was controversial because of the light sentence handed down by the judge. Schiano asked for a five to fifteen year sentence, but the judge instead sentenced McGuinness to six months in prison and ten years probation.

The judge said that she believed that McGuinness deserved a second chance.
