Trucking Dispatcher Sentenced To 15 Months For $1 Million Scam

Published:

A Houston trucking dispatcher was sentenced to 15 months in prison for defrauding an Oklahoma City company out of more than $1 million.

Richard Kelly, 44, pled guilty yesterday to wire fraud charges and was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison. He was also ordered to pay more than $1.2 million in restitution to Midwest Hose & Specialty.

Prosecutors say that while working as a dispatcher for Freeway Delivery, Inc., a Houston based trucking company, Kelly created false invoices for deliveries that were supposedly made by his truck driver wife. Kelly admitted to billing Midwest Hose for deliveries that he knew never happened.

The fraud scheme ran from 2007 through 2012.
