Wisconsin police are investigating after a trucker was found deceased in the sleeper berth of of a burning truck at a Portage truck stop.
Firefighters responded to a call at the Petro Travel Plaza just after 6 a.m. on Sunday morning.
When the Wisconsin State Patrol arrived at the truck stop, they found a semi in the parking lot totally engulfed in flames.
While firefighters put out the blaze, police searched for the truck’s driver.
It was only after the fire was extinguished that the driver’s body was discovered in the sleeper berth of the truck.
The driver’s identity has not been released pending the notification of the family. He is a 57 year old man from Idaho.
Multiple agencies are investigating the incident, including the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbia County Medical Examiner, and the Portage Fire Department
