Truck driver hurt after plunging off I-40 into creek

A FedEx truck driver suffered significant injuries today after crashing off of I-40 and into the creek below.

The crash happened this afternoon on westbound I-40 near mile marker 255 in St. Francis County, Arkansas, according to WMCA Action News 5.

Police say that another semi truck was involved in the crash that sent the FedEx truck careening off of the interstate, through a guardrail, and into the water, but they are still investigating the cause of the crash.

The driver of the FedEx truck survived and was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the other semi truck wasn’t hurt.

The St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office reports that there are severe traffic backups on both eastbound and westbound I-40 because of this crash and because of an unrelated fire on eastbound I- 40 at the 256 mile marker.
