Trucker killed while trying to help motorist extinguish car fire

A truck driver lost his life in Nevada last night while attempting to assist a motorist in a dangerous situation.

The incident happened around 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, near Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, 60 year old FedEx Ground truck driver John Stacy was traveling on Las Vegas Boulevard when he spotted a disabled 1993 Chevrolet Corvette parked and on fire on the shoulder of the roadway. truck driver pulled over.

Stacy pulled over to try to help.

Troopers say that Stacy exited his vehicle with a fire extinguisher in hand. As he attempted to cross the road to help with the burning car, he was struck by a cement mixer.

Stacy was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

The mixer truck driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. Troopers say that alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
