Blazing semi trucks make for ‘extraordinarily difficult’ firefight

Published:

Five semi trucks caught fire early on Friday morning at a trucking business in Florida, creating a tough battle for firefighters.

The fire broke out at around 4:30 a.m. at T&M Truck & Trailer Repair Services located in the 2400 block of SW 32nd Street in Dania Beach, Florida.

According to NBC Miami, firefighters arrived to find five tractor trailers completely engulfed in flames. The trucks were close to two businesses, and it took almost 45 firefighters an entire hour to extinguish the fire. The five semi trucks were completely destroyed in the incident.

“Fighting this specific fire wasn’t easy,” said Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Battalion Chief Michael Kane to Local 10

“It was made extraordinarily difficult by the heavy load of diesel fuel inside the vehicles’ fuel tanks as well as the confinement of the fire between two buildings, making this a very hot and intense blaze.”

One firefighter was transported to the hospital with a minor back injury, but no other injuries were reported. The state fire marshal’s office is investigating.
