Firefighters are investigating a vehicle explosion that occurred on a New Jersey highway on Monday morning.
The incident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on April 17 in Union Township, New Jersey.
Officials say that a truck hauling a shipping container was eastbound on Route 22 en route to a port in Elizabeth when the boat inside the container caught fire and then exploded.
No injuries were reported.
Union Fire Chief Greg Ricciardi told TapIntoUnion that the explosion blew the doors off of the container and sent them flying 150 feet away.
Route 22 was closed for much of the morning rush hour but has since reopened.
The incident is under investigation.
