CNG-powered big rig severely damaged by fire on I-15 in California

Published:

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a major vehicle fire in the Mountain Pass area on Wednesday.

Shortly before 11 a.m. on October 30, CHP Barstow issued a traffic advisory for I-15 South near Bailey Road.

Troopers reported that drivers should expect delays due to a “Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered big rig fire.”

According to CHP, “Both CNG tanks caught fire and burned the truck, but thankfully no one was injured.” Police did not provide information on what caused the fire.

Images shared by CHP show extreme fire damage to the truck.

All lanes have reopened.

Earlier this month, another CNG-powered UPS truck was badly damaged by a fire on I-77 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
