Driver dead after crashing down embankment between overpasses

A truck driver is dead after skidding down an embankment in Illinois on Tuesday morning. 

The commercial vehicle accident happened on July 16th in the south suburbs of Hazel Crest, Illinois on Interstate 80 near Kedzie Avenue. 

According to Fox 32, the semi truck left Interstate 80 and traveled down an embankment, between both sides of the I-80 overpass crossing Kedzie Aveue, and rolled over onto Kedzie Avenue. 

The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The exact cause of the crash has not been determined. 

As of 8:30 a.m. CST, the incident has shut down one lane of eastbound I-80 and both directions of Kedzie Avenue under the I-80 overpass as police work to investigate the accident and clear the wreckage.
