Driver found dead in cab after veering into small lake

A truck driver is dead after driving off of a Nebraska interstate and into a nearby lake on Wednesday. 

The accident happened on July 31st along Interstate 80 east of the Grand Island interchange at the Mormon Island State Recreation Area in Grand Island, Nebraska at around 5:30 p.m. 

According to KSNB Local, the semi truck was heading east on I-80 when it suddenly veered across all lanes of traffic and traveled off the interstate. The commercial vehicle eventually came to a rest with the cab partially in the water of a small lake at the recreation area. 

Crews worked to pull the truck driver’s body from the water as power crews worked to repair a power line damaged in the incident.
