Eight people hurt in semi vs. SUV crash

Eight people were taken to the hospital after a semi truck collided with an SUV on Interstate 70 outside of Denver on Monday morning. 

The accident happened on June 17th at 2:18 a.m. on eastbound I-70 in Byers, Colorado. 

According to CBS, an Amazon truck struck a guardrail on westbound I-70 and veered across the center median before driving into the eastbound lanes, where it collided with a Nissan Armada. The tractor trailer then caught fire. 

Eight people were inside of the SUV at the time of the crash, and all eight were transported to  nearby hospitals. Only one person was seriously injured. The truck driver was not hurt in the crash. 

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Cleanup of the incident closed the interstate for approximately seven hours, but were reopened by late Monday morning. No further information has been released.
