A major Minnesota-based carrier has joined Interstate Personnel Services (IPS), according to a joint announcement from the companies.
Effective October 31, 2025, New Ulm-headquartered J&R Schugel (JRS) joined the IPS family, which includes Paschall Truck Lines, Paschall Logistics, Paschall Trailer Leasing, IPS Leasing, and Transport Distribution Company.
Following the merger, IPS will operate nearly 2,000 tractors and 6,000 trailers in its asset-based operations, which will focus on dry van and refrigerated services in the United States and Mexico, the companies said.
“The combination of our two organizations preserves our employee-ownership culture while bringing enhanced value to our customers,” said JRS CEO, Sean Claton.
“The J&R Schugel name is a well-known and highly respected in our industry. Adding JRS to the IPS family expands the capabilities and services that we can jointly provide to our respective customers while also creating new exciting opportunities for our employee owners,” IPS’ CEO and Chairman, Dave Gibbs, stated.
JRS was founded in 1974 by Jerry & Rich Schugel and remained family owned and operated until 2014, when the company became a 100% employee-owned company.
Paschall Truck Lines was founded in 1937 and currently operates over 1,250 units and 4,000 trailers in its truckload operations.
IPS became a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company in 2013 and provides one-way, dedicated, regional, long-haul, logistics, and equipment leasing services in the United States and Mexico.
