INFOGRAPHIC: WalMart Is a Retail Gargantua

After reading through the news of how trucking and transportation companies reaped some last-minute profits due to an impending rail strike, we found ourselves asking, “If truck drivers saved the nation’s retailers from a $2 billion dollar a day holiday disaster, which retailer benefited most from their quick thinking?” The answer was quickly found to be WalMart.

The over-the-road transportation industry saved WalMart millions in the course of just a few days by stepping up logistics to substitute service for rail freight. By our estimates, about $174 million + change in just one week. That could have proved troublesome (but hardly tragic) to a company that manages to clear about $421 BILLION in profit per year. Either way…you’re WELCOME, WalMart. 🙂
