Will Ferrell scored a big hit with movie fans everywhere back in 2004 with his swinging idiot news hero character Ron Burgundy. “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” assured that Will Ferrell would be on the minds of millions even after he left Saturday Night Live, where he started his career.
While “Anchorman” was a light-hearted comedy that seemed to be poking more fun at workplace politics and sexism in the 70s than at modern news casting, it still got raunchy enough to make even the most jaded moviegoer giggle in parts. It was a huge hit for writer/director Adam McKay, who teamed with Ferrell for several other comedy hits soon after, such as Talladega Nights, Step Brothers and The Other Guys.
The latest news from Hollywood seems to indicate that the partnership is still going strong, as Anchorman 2 was announced by Ferrell just a few weeks ago on Conan O’Brian’s late night talk show (Ferrell was in character, of course), and the trailer dropped just yesterday on the web, on TV and in theaters everywhere. But son-of-a-bee-sting, why do we have to wait until 2013?!?
So enough chatter – let’s see the teaser trailer starring Ron, Champ Kind (Whammy!), Brian, and everyone’s favorite dim-witted weather man Brick Tamblin. And yes, we are assured of boobies by Champ. What a relief.
