So what’s coming soon to Netflix Streaming in November?
About to ship off to Afghanistan, newly enlisted Marines and friends Luis and Ronald are armed with dreams that extend beyond their block. Using a video camera, they chronicle their precious days at home before shipping off.
While it’s usually horror films that effectively use the hand-held “shaky cam” format to ratchet up tension, we find that it works very well for dramas when applied to situations where people are limited in ways they can communicate.

When his father dies, 12-year-old orphan Hugo takes up residence behind the walls of a Parisian train station. There, he meets Isabelle, the daughter of filmmaker Georges Méliès, who holds the key to Hugo’s destiny.
This animated feature (a first for the legendary director Scorsese) was nominated for multiple Oscars, including Best Picture. The version available on Netflix Streaming is the 2D version, not the spectacular 3D version. This rich and wonderful family film is highly worth your time, however.

There are plenty of TV shows on right now that use scary things for plot devices. The trouble is, barely any of them are actually scary. American Horror Story avoids this pitfall and is able to put some real creepiness, atmosphere and jumps into an interesting plot. Villainous star Jessica Lange won an Emmy for her portrayal of an aging, single mother with sinister powers.
A Boston family makes a new start by moving cross-country to Los Angeles … only to find that their new home might already be “occupied.” As the house’s dark secrets come to light, creepy characters come out of the woodwork. Will the family ever be able to escape their fate that seems to be dictated by dark forces from within the house?

Col. John Matrix (Arnold Schwarzenegger), the former leader of a special ops team, is vaulted back into action to save his young daughter (Alyssa Milano) who has been kidnapped. Her life is threatened lest John assassinate a South American president. Rather than being strong-armed into such a proposition, John takes matters (and lots of guns) into his owns hands as he fights through the jungle against his enemies to save his daughter.
What else can we say but, this is part of the Governator’s biggest decade of cheeky, hyper-violent action films that made him who he is today. Required watching.
