Taylor Swift released her last album “Speak Now” just a few months ago, and already it has yielded four big hits for this still-rising country pop star. The latest video is getting major airplay. It’s called “Ours.”
Her back story is one made for movies. Just a decade before, Swift began to regularly visit Nashville, Tennessee to work with local songwriters. She learned a lot about her craft, but just wasn’t able to get her demo in front of the right people. Her first major show was a well-received performance at the Bloomsburg Fair. Soon she would move on to (way) bigger and better things. She entered a songwriters showcase at a popular local venue called The Bluebird Cafe. A man who was starting up a new country music label recognized the talent, then signed her at the ripe young age of 14 on the spot.
Her latest single, “Ours” was released on November 8, 2011. Swift performed the song at the 2011 Country Music Association Awards on that same week. As of early 2012 “Ours” is the fourth best selling single off of the album.
This month, Swift announced news that had her very excited. One of the songs she wrote recently will be featured on The Hunger Games Official Movie Soundtrack. The song is titled “Safe & Sound”, was the first track released from the album. The soundtrack is set to be released on March 20, 2012.
Taylor is an artist with one of the all-time best-selling digital music records. Taylor has sold 41,821,000 digital tracks as of the end of 2011 according to Nielsen SoundScan.
