Jake Owen is a relatively new talent on the Nashville scene, but he’s a huge talent that every touring veteran wants in their inner circle. He has served as an opening act in several record-breaking country tours of stars like Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Little Big Town, Sugarland, and Keith Urban.
The story of Jake almost dumbfounds in its simplicity and luck. Jake taught himself guitar while attending Florida State University, soon after he landed a regular gig at a small college bar where he woodshedded for a couple of years.
He decided to make the move for Nashville. Then…
In his very first stop in town, he walked into a bank to open an account. While speaking with the attendant, she began to flirt, asked what he did for a living. He said he moved to town to begin playing music, she asked for a CD, and then took it immediately to the talent department of Warner/Chappelle Music. While they felt that Jake wasn’t yet ready for the big time, they made sure his name got passed around town. Merely two years later, Jake made the big impression he was looking for with some producers searching for Kenny Chesney’s next big hit. His songwriting skills were enough to land him a full contract with sony/BMG, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Owen’s newest single unseated Taylor Swift’s “Ours” from the top of the Billboard Country Singles charts, and is his second #1 hit from the album Barefoot Blue Jean Night. It’s called “Alone With You.”
Have a look and listen at this spicy late night country ballad from a rising star.
