DOT and VA Partner To Help Veterans Find Jobs

VA, DOT Partner For Veterans

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and Veteran’s Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki announced a partnership between the two departments  that was created to help military veterans find jobs in the transportation industry.  The DOT and VA unveiled a portal on both department’s websites that will help veterans find jobs best suited to their abilities.

“Our transportation industry needs pilots, controllers, mechanics and drivers– the very kinds of skills that our military is known for developing,” said LaHood.

Shineski echoed LaHood’s statement saying, “Veterans have the skills, knowledge and attributes that American businesses need to help rebuild an economy that will last.”

The portal on the department’s websites will link to the Veteran’s Transportation Career Center.  The website will allow veterans to enter their military experience and skills and will help them find jobs that match their skills.  The site will also allow veterans to choose from five job categories.
