Eastbound Lanes of 1-70 At Blanchette Bridge Closed This Weekend

Blanchette Bridge Closed This Weekend This weekend, three eastbound lanes of the Blanchette Bridge will be closed starting at 8 p.m. Friday, October 19 and will remain closed until 5 a.m. Sunday, October 21.

Drivers crossing the Missouri River are urged to use Route 370 and Route 364 as alternate routes.

In addition, the Fifth Street northbound and southbound ramps to eastbound I-70 will  be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, October 19 and will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday, October 20.

Drivers can use Veterans Memorial Drive to Route 94 as an alternate route to eastbound I-70, KSDK reported.

“MoDOT crews will be restriping the eastbound Blanchette Bridge to six lanes to handle both directions of traffic beginning in the first weekend of November, Horn said. The regular five eastbound lanes will be reopened to traffic in that direction on October 22,” KSDK reported.

The westbound lanes of the the westbound Blanchette Bridge will be closed until fall of 2013.

Scheduled Traffic Impacts:

Important Dates – I-70 at Blanchette Missouri River Bridge St Charles/St Louis Counties
Friday, Oct. 19 – half of the lanes the eastbound I-70 bridge close in the evening
Sunday, Oct. 21 – lanes reopen on eastbound bridge overnight
Friday, Oct. 26 – half of the lanes on westbound I-70 at Earth City and ramps at Earth City closed in the evening
Sunday, Oct. 28 – lanes reopen on westbound I-70 and at the Earth City ramps overnight
Friday, Nov. 2 – half of the lanes on both directions close in the evening
Sunday, Nov. 4 – All traffic is rerouted to eastbound bridge by this evening and the westbound bridge is closed.
Monday, Nov. 5 – First Monday morning rush hour with reduced I-70 lanes and slow speed limit.
Mid-Nov/Early Dec – three full closures of I-70 for bridge blasts. Both directions of I-70 closed for up to one hour. (dates/times to be determined)
Fall 2013 – Westbound Blanchette Bridge reopens. Traffic patterns return to normal.
