At the 2012 MATS, the Great American Insurance Group raffled off a custom Peterbilt for the “Big Rig Giveaway.” More than 5,000 attendees entered their tickets for a chance to win.
One of the 5,000 entrants was Todd Turner, a service manager for Bengal Transportation Services in Holden, Louisiana.
Turner wasn’t present when his name was drawn. Tim clinton, vice president of Great American Trucking Division, called Turner on his cell to let him know the good news.
When he got the call, Turner and his wife were making their way through the truck show, headed to the Women in Trucking booth.
Turner called his boss to tell him about his prize. “When I told him I won, he asked if it was a pickup truck. I said, ‘no, like a real truck.'” Turner explained. “He’s going to be awfully surprised when that thing pulls into our lot.”
Turner says he plans to lease his new truck to the company he works for. He says his wife, who is a driver for the company, might end up driving the Peterbilt.
Turner says he still has his CDL but no longer drives.
This year’s custom Peterbilt has a red, white and blue theme.
