How Does Your Carriers CSA Score Affect You?

If you don’t know the CSA score of the carrier you work for or a perspective carrier you’re considering working for, you should.  Why? Because your carrier’s score has a direct impact on you.

Trucking companies with BASIC scores above the threshold are subject to more roadside inspections, causing you delays and frustration.

Here’s our step-by-step guide on how to check your carrier or perspective carriers’ CSA score:

Step 1: Follow this link.

On the top, right hand side, you’ll see this box.  Enter your carriers or your perspective carrier’s DOT #.

Step 2: Once you’ve entered the company’s DOT #, you will be directed to the company’s FMCSA page.

Step 3: Scroll down the page to the company’s BASIC information.  Click on each category for more detailed information. (Do this for 7 categories).

For example: If you click on “Unsafe Driving,” you will be taken to another page that will detail that specific rating. The page will show a gage.  The lower the number, the better the rating.

Also look for “Overall BASIC Status” under each of the categories.  This will be located at the top of the screen.

Step 4: Look at the “Summary of Activity”

This section illustrates the total number of incidents, including inspections, crashes (including injuries and fatalities) and tow-aways.  Again, the lower the number, the better.
