Mid-American Truck Show to Salute Women Behind the Wheel

An aging truck force, sour economy, high unemployment and a dash of female liberation have led to an increase of women behind the wheel.

This year’s Mid-America Truck Show (MATS) will pay homage to women in the trucking industry.  Nearly 300 female drivers, all wearing red t-shirts, are planned to attend.

The 3rd annual “Salute to Women Behind the Wheel” is planned for Saturday, March 24, 2012. Any woman with a CDL is encourage to attend and should register at the  Salute to Women website.

The Women in Trucking Association encourages female drivers to ,”Join us for the largest celebration of Women Behind the Wheel. Save the date and plan on becoming a part of history as the Women In Trucking Association recognizes the outstanding safety and performance accomplishments of the nation’s professional female drivers. There will be music, refreshments, prizes, goodie bags and the big event of the day, a photo of all women drivers for the world record books.”

Attendees and their families will be welcomed by Women in Trucking board members and goodie bags.  Joyce Brenny, this year’s Women in Trucking Association’s “Most Influential Woman in Trucking” winner, will be this year’s guest speaker. Terry Wooley and Highway Fever will perform before the ceremony.
