According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, for-hire trucking companies added 1,800 payroll jobs for the month of April.    Although, the Bureau had originally estimated 1,900.

Some believe the recent oil boom has generated more jobs for truckers.

The trucking industry has always been a good indicator of the state of the economy; however, he national unemployment rate only dropped .10% to 8.1%.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics gets its numbers from non-agricultural business.  Each month, the Bureau surveys more than 141,000 agencies on their hiring trends.
