Truck drivers and packers who work for New England Motor Freight got to hang out and do some work with rock legend Paul McCartney on Wednesday.

The event was a quiet thing until a local DJ, who had family members who worked at the freight company, noticed some interesting pictures on a relative’s Facebook wall.

Ronnie Miller, a morning producer at Y94 FM, Wednesday night posted an entry on his blog, reporting that McCartney arrived in Syracuse via a private jet and went to the trucking company before flying out again.

Why was he there? McCartney is married to Nancy Shevell, the daughter of the company’s owner. She is vice president of administration for NEMF and The Shevell Companies.

The first inkling he had of McCartney’s visit was a posting on his mother-in-law’s Facebook page saying that her husband who works at a private airfield in Mattydale had just met the former Beatle.

McCartney arrived at 10 a.m. and left at 3 p.m., Miller said.

What’s he like? Miller said he asked his father-in-law after the encounter. “He’s really tall, he smells really good,” his father-in-law told him.

Well…okay then.
