So the first question we know you’ll have is, “Is there anything good to get this year?” Well, taste in movies is subjective, and you know what you like. We’ll try and give you an idea of what you’re in for. As always, make sure you link up to YouTube to watch the trailers and see if the movies seem legitimate. If there’s one thing we know, it’s that there’s ALWAYS another horror movie. The genre is stacked full of offerings.

Okay, let’s get started.

The Cabin In the Woods – You know this one is different right from the opening scenes. There’s a secret government facility underground who has a primary job to trick and kill teenagers. Why? Simple – they have to keep the world safe. Make sense? It will. This movie was written by Joss Whedon, who brought the world Buffy the Vampire Slayer and one of the biggest summer blowout movies of all time – Marvel’s The Avengers.

The Tall Man – This one is more of a thriller with a sad back story. It stars Jessica Biel as a doctor in a small mining town that’s seen better days. To make things worse, something seems to be stealing the children from their homes in the dead of night. The locals created a legend known as The Tall Man to explain it, and encourage law enforcement to track down the mysterious phantom. The reality of what happens is worse than anyone in town can imagine, however.

Piranha 3DD – Would you like a double helping of jiggle with your screaming sunbathers? This could be just the thing for you. This is a creature feature that has lots of blood, lots of humor, lots of cameos and a whole heaping helping of curvy damsels in distress. Oh, and David Hasslehoff playing himself. As a lifeguard. Drunk. Have fun!

Woman In Black – Daniel Radcliff is a long way from Harry Potter in this spooky haunted house film by classic British film studio Hammer Horror. Radcliff plays a curious estate lawyer sent to clean up after the death of an old widow. Although the locals try to hide the town’s tragic history from him, he soon learns that his client’s house is haunted by the ghost of a woman. She is looking for someone and something she had lost, and until she finds it, no one is safe from her vengeance.

The Devil Inside – When Isabella recruits two young exorcists to cure her mom using unconventional methods, combining both science and religion, they come face-to-face with pure evil in the form of four powerful demons possessing Maria. Are these the same demons that caused her mother to murder four people 20 years before?

After Dusk They Come – This is an indie horror film that’s making a name for itself on the festival circuit, and stars Jewel Staite from the popular WB series “Firefly.” In this film, friends charter a fishing boat for a weekend trip, but go astray from the coordinates they chose. After a horrific boat crash shipwrecks them in the dense jungle, it quickly becomes evident that they are not the first to arrive to their new island prison. An unknown, cannibalistic beast stalks the group from the shadows, picking them off one-by-one.
