Michael Stein, the company’s owner, says he came up with the idea of bartering with truck companies, when he was going over shipping bills. He said the company had seen a huge increase in shipping bills.
Looking for a solution to cut shipping costs, Stein says his eyes found a pallet of truck tarps. He decided to try to barter with truckers and trucking companies; tarps for shipments.
“We had the warehouse of tarps and the trucking companies that ship for us need them, so it was a no brainer,” Stein said.
According to the International Recripical Trade Association, bartering has seen a tremendous increase the past few years, due to a down economy.
