We thought you would like to see the Truck Driving Challenge on BBC’s Top Gear, because, well…it’s pretty funny.
Top Gear is an extremely popular British TV series hosted by James May, Richard Hammond, and Jeremy Clarkson. It’s so popular that The History Channel decided to create an American counter-part which has just entered its 3rd season.
Why is Top Gear so popular? It’s a show that is hosted by automotive experts who like to have fun with the cars, the audience and celebrity guests. It’s a mish-mash of excellent photography and information, humor, and incredible stunt driving. They often do segments of very off-the-wall challenges, such as filming a nun driving a monster truck, trying to break the speed record for a towed caravan (they did it by dropping it from a crane), attempting to destroy cars and trucks by various methods, and sequences such as this where they have a guest stunt driver appear and run a Class 8 tractor trailer through some power slide maneuvering.
Then they try to do it themselves, and that’s where the real fun starts. We won’t spoil it for you, but one of the hosts even injured himself during an attempt. Have a look and a laugh! We’ll have another truck driving video for you next week.
