Tree Crushes Semi, Driver Miraculously Survives

Oregon Parks and Recreation have begun a 7 to 10 day emergency highway clearing from a high intensity microburst on Wednesday. The powerful winds thrashed and nearly leveled a large section of forest along the Van Duzer Corridor, plunging hapless commuters and truck drivers into inescapable and dangerous conditions.

More than 12 large trees cracked and blew across Highway 18, rendering travel impossible. One tree claimed the semi truck of a long haul trucker and nearly his life. A multi-ton tree crashed through the driver’s side of the cab, shearing through metal and glass seriously injuring the driver.

Can you believe the truck driver survived damage of this magnitude? Someone’s got an angel on their shoulder! Stay safe out there truckers!
