Truck driver Arnold Gray was driving along I-85, south of the I-285 interchange Wednesday afternoon, in Atlanta, Georgia, dashcam rolling, when he witnessed a fatal wrong-way driving accident.
The wrong-way driver, was killed at the scene. The wrong-way driver’s identity has not yet been released.
The driver of the vehicle hit by the wrong-way driver, Christopher O’Day, 49, of Canastota, NY, was also died at the scene. O’Day’s passenger was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“I noticed them swerving out of the way, and then I noticed a guy coming dead towards me,” Gray told CBS Atlanta. “I just slowed down and tried to get out of his way and just as soon as he passed me, he went around the curve and lost his life.”
The area saw four wrong-way accidents in a week. Authorities are hoping Gray’s dashcam footage will help determine how the driver ended up heading the wrong direction.
