According to the Fairfield Sun, Kevin Rojas, 25, was driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla north on the interstate, when he lost control of his car.
Rojas’ car rolled “catapulting onto the right shoulder.”
The Corolla hit the driver’s side of Blankenship’s truck causing “intrusive collision damage,” the Fairfield Sun reported.
In a press release, Asst. Chief Scott Bisson stated, “The vehicles were severely damaged and added to the challenge of gaining access to the victims at this scene.”
Several firefighters and EMS workers were called to the scene.
Blankenship was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries.
Rojas suffered a head laceration and his passenger complained of pain.
The cause of the accident is unknown at this time. The Connecticut Stat Police are investigating what caused Rojas to lose control of his car.
