A truck driver’s call to police is being credited with saving a 43-year-old New York man’s life.
The driver was crossing the Verrazano Bridge on Sunday, October 14, at 5:30 p.m., when he saw a man exit a 2012 Honda and head to the rail of the bridge, step over the side and jump off. The man plunged 228 ft. into the chilly water below.
The truck driver immedietly called 911.
Within 15 minutes of the call, the NYPD and Coast Guard pulled the victim from the water. He was taken to Staten Island University Hospital and is listed in critical condition.
