We’re starting up another episode of our popular series “Truck Driver Songs.” This is where we feature musicians who love singing about the truck driving life, whether it’s pride, love, danger or diners. This week is a single from a lesser known act to mainstream country, but a star to the truck drivers he sings about.
Aaron Tippin is a true American original. While music is his primary focus for a career, he has also used his knowledge and skills to earn a pilots license and is certified to work on jet engines and airframes. Other endeavors include starting his own record label called Nippit Records, and creating a line of health foods that are affordable to the blue collar sector.
Aside from traveling around the country entertaining fans at honkey tonks and our nation’s troops in homeland bases and overseas, he is an avid gun rights advocate. He runs two firearms shops in Tennessee and North Carolina called Aaron Tippin Firearms.
The song “Driving Fool” can be found on Tippin’s 2009 release “In Overdrive.” The album is mainly about truck driving, and features a few cover songs. Included in the song list is one of Alabama’s smash hits “Roll On 18 Wheeler” and “Eastbound & Down” by Jerry Reed.
So here’s a throwback to the old chatterbox style of trucker country songs made famous by Dave Dudley and C.W. McCall. Enjoy, truck drivers!
