Truck Drivers Deliver Record Number of Wreaths

Published:

Truck Drivers Deliver Record Number of Wreaths On Saturday, a record number of wreaths were placed on veterans’ graves across the country.  This year, 610,00 wreaths were placed on the graves of those who sacrificed their lives for our country.

More than 65 trucking companies helped transport 34 loads of more than 110,000 wreaths– 20,000 more than last year.  The convoy of trucks were escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders.

The trucks started their journey in Harrington, Maine on December 9 and made their way along the East Coast, stopping at schools and ceremonies along the way, before reaching their destination at Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday.

Lindsay Lawler performed “Amazing Grace” at the opening ceremony.

Each year, more and more trucks have joined the Wreaths Across America program.

“This project is a natural fit for TCA members and the trucking industry in general, since so many veterans choose to make their careers in trucking after serving in the military,” said Burruss, who happens to be a Marine Corps veteran. “All of us feel it is our honor and privilege to be able to show our respect by hauling the wreaths for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.”
