The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department announced that two lanes of Interstate 430 will be closed and encouraged drivers to avoid the southbound lanes entirely, if at all possible.
“The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department is the middle of a years-long project to rebuild the I-430/I-630 interchange and beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday will start work to relocate an exit for southbound I-430 traffic that will involve closing one to two lanes of southbound I-430 for 18-21 hours,” The Trucker reported.
To add to the congestion, speed limits will be reduced to 40 mph.
Drivers should expect construction on the interstate through 2014, when the $124 million interchange is expected to be complete.
